How to get rid of voles in your garden

I had voles for years and poisons weren't doing the trick. Then I learned a technique that eradicated them in days. I take about an 18" length of rain gutter and place it upside down over their hole, weighting it down with a brick. Then, near each end of the gutter, I place a standard mouse trap (preferably the kind with the wide, yellow plastic platform trigger) with the trigger end toward the hole.

No bait is necessary as the little varmints have to climb over the trap to get out. I put these over three holes and covered the rest with dirt and within a day I'd killed a slew of them. (Keep checking and resetting as necessary.) I haven't seen a new vole hole in over a year, but I'm ready if I do.
